Jia Shi Mu Tea Art Gallery – Spring Tea Tasting Event

On April 24, 2025, the Tea Promotion Unit of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing participated in the Spring Tea Tasting Ceremony organized by the Jia Shi Mu Tea Art Gallery in Beijing, China. The event brought together leading experts from the Chinese tea industry along with representatives from well-known Chinese tea enterprises.

As part of the programme, a presentation was delivered on Ceylon Tea and the Sri Lankan Tea Industry, outlining its rich heritage, global positioning, and the unique qualities that distinguish it in the international market. This was followed by a curated Ceylon Tea tasting session conducted for the invited tea experts and professionals, allowing direct experience of the distinct characteristics and quality of Ceylon Tea.
As a direct result of this engagement, several highly valuable promotional opportunities were secured entirely free of charge, with no cost incurred by the Government of Sri Lanka or the Sri Lanka Tea Board.

This represents a strategic and cost-free promotional platform for Ceylon Tea within a respected Chinese tea institution. It provides ongoing visibility, brand engagement, and consumer outreach for Sri Lankan tea products without any financial obligation to Sri Lanka or the Tea Board.
Furthermore, the event received significant media coverage, including by CCTV Discovery and multiple online press outlets, amplifying awareness and reinforcing the premium image of Ceylon Tea among Chinese consumers.

This outcome is a significant example of leveraging diplomatic engagement and industry collaboration to achieve sustained, zero-cost promotional impact in a key international market.
