Sri Lanka Tea Board New Regional Office at Nuwara Eliya
Hon. Navin Dissanayake, Minister of Plantation Industries laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new Regional Office of the Sri Lanka Tea Board in Nuwara Eliya on 17th October 2016. The Regional Office is being built at an estimated cost of 86 million rupees. The Regional Offices of the Sri Lanka Tea Board carry out all regulatory functions connected with the cultivation, manufacture and quality development of tea.
Hatton / Nuwara Eliya Region consists of 4 Tea Inspector ranges, 130 registered Tea Factories and 84 registered Green Tea Leaf Dealers and presently over looked from the Gampola Regional office of Sri Lanka Tea Board. Therefore, the parties who require the services and supports from the Sri Lanka Tea Board encounter with difficulties to come to Regional Office in Gampola and experience hindrances in receiving documentary instructions, licenses and awareness program ect. which are of utmost importance to carry out their regular operation/ practices.
The establishment of this new Office in the center of the region will certainly help to carry out the regulatory activities of the Sri Lanka Tea Board more effectively and efficiently thereby facilitating all the parties who involved in Tea Industry of the region.
