Ceylon Tea, the world's most exclusively unique tea first came into being in Sri Lanka 142 years ago in 1887. The first commercial tea plantation was started by James Taylor, a Scotsman in the mid country of Sri Lanka, in an estate known as 'Loolkandura'. Since then, Sri Lankan tea industry has under gone vast improvements culminating in becoming the largest exporter of tea in the world.

What is so unique about Ceylon Tea is its diversity in flavour, something that other tea producing countries do not have. In Sri Lanka tea grown in six agro climatic regions, each region giving its own flavour to the tea grown in it. Thus, Sri Lanka tea has six flavours, namely, Uva, Nuwara eliya, Udapussellawa, Kandy, Dimbulla and Ruhuna.
